Rev. Brian Kean
Fr. Brian Kean grew up in Park
Ridge, and was a member of Mary Seat of Wisdom
parish. He graduated from
Northern Illinois
University with a BS degree in
accounting and he later passed the CPA exam. He
worked for several years in the accounting and auditing fields, serving
the financial services and health care industries.
Prior to attending seminary, he was closely
associated with the Young Adult Ministry in downtown
Chicago
that encompassed many different parishes. At
different times, he was active in a variety of downtown parishes such as
Old St. Patrick’s, St. Clement’s, St. Michael’s, Our Lady of Pompeii,
and Holy Name Cathedral. He was also involved in
community service outside the church. In particular,
the 20/30 Club of Chicago, a men’s organization that raises money and
donates time to many different children’s organizations, enabled him to
give back to the community. Through this club, he
donated volunteer time to such organizations as Mercy Home for Boys,
Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago,
Misericordia, and many other wonderful organizations.
He entered Mundelein Seminary in 2005.
His spiritual formation and academic studies at the seminary have
been complemented by myriad pastoral experiences. In
2008, he lived and worked in a parish for four months.
Last summer, he did chaplaincy work at
Maine Medical
Center. He also
spent a year working in the chaplaincy department at Winchester House, a
home for the elderly. He has had several years
experience teaching religious education at the parish level and at the
community level, teaching religious education to troubled youth at
Allendale. In addition, he spent three months on
pilgrimage in the Holy Land.
Fr. Kean was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese
of Chicago on May 22, 2010
and assigned to St. Germaine on July 1 of that year.
