Rev. Marek Sitar
Marek
Sitar was born in Bratislava,
the capital of
Slovakia,
EU, on the 14th of April 1978. His father is an
Electro Engineer and his mother is an Economic Engineer. He has four
younger brothers and a little sister. One of the brothers is
also a priest and another one is a deacon.
After Elementary and High School, he attended
Slovak
Technical
University
for one year. It was at this time that he first thought about the
priesthood. He began his priestly studies in the diocesan
Seminary of Bratislava-Trnava and was ordained a
deacon in the year 2002.
He was ordained a presbyter on the 14th
of June 2003
in the Cathedral
in Trnava. He worked as an Associate in
Slovakia.
Though Slovakia
and Europe
is his home, he accepted, with pleasure, the will of his Archbishop,
who was asked by US Church authorities to send a priest to work in the
United States. He spent a year at St. Cyril and Methodius
Slovak
Church
in Michigan,
and recently started his mission in Illinois.
After a year at St. Genevieve on the north side of Chicago,
he came to Oak Lawn
in July of 2009, where he will continue to be available for the
Slovaks, towards whom he has a commitment.
