Taize Prayer

Second Friday of Each Month at 7:00 P.M.

This prayer received its name from where it first began - in the small town of Taize, France.  There, an ecumenical community of brothers live a life of celibacy, prayer and simplicity.  They reach out in service to the very poor, street children, prisoners, the dying and those abandoned.  They also make themselves available to the many, including youth from around the world, who come to join them in this prayer.  The structure of this prayer is simple.  It consists of short refrains, such as "Jesus, remember me," repeated many times by those who gather.  A reading from scripture, a period of silent reflection, prayers of intercession and the Lord's Prayer are also included.  Candles are lit within the prayer, a symbol that reminds us that even when we are surrounded by darkness - in our personal life or in the life of humanity, Christ's love is a fire that never goes out. The cross is always in a place of prominence during this prayer.  One of the predominant themes is that of peace and reconciliation.  All are invited to come to  join us in this prayer during the Lenten Season. Come and pray for yourselves, your family, our parish and the world..
